Breaks and Lunches

Breaks and Lunches are scheduled into your work day. As you get more used to the routine, these can be flexible in timing, but do need to be completed for compliance reasons.

Employees are free to go where they want for breaks and lunches as long as the travel time to and from the destination is included in the break period. If you want to be specific about knowing when to clock in/out, you can physically place your body in front of the next scheduled visit location, then start your break at that point.

How to Complete a 10 Minute Paid Break

  1. Complete the walk before your Break
  2. Drive and park at your next scheduled walk location
  3. Select Arrived to start your Break
  4. Select Complete to end your Break
  5. Start your next scheduled walk

Breaks are paid time and do not require you to clock out at all.

How to Clock In/Out for Lunches

  1. Complete the walk before your Break
  2. Drive and park at your next scheduled walk location
  3. Select Arrived on the Lunch visit in PPC
  4. Clock out using the small clock in the top right corner
—If you clock out before starting your Lunch, the system will automatically clock you back in, therefore, you must select Arrived on the lunch right before clocking out for lunch
  5. Close app (swipe up to fully close the app out)
  6. You will automatically be clocked back in when you select Arrived for your next scheduled visit

– Drive/walk to where your lunch break destination is
– Grab lunch
– Ensure you set aside enough time during your lunch break to travel/walk back to next scheduled walk location within 30 minutes

– You will automatically be clocked back in when you select Arrived for your next scheduled visit

Break and Lunch Requirements

There will be times when you will need to manage your break times based on how each day pans out. This is due to unknown added or reduced travel times, parking, animal-related delays, etc…

Meal and break periods will be scheduled into your day based on the default calculation of estimated time it may take to complete a daily schedule.

Default Calculation = Duration of Walk + 15 Minutes of Travel Time
*The exception is the last walk of the day, which is only the duration of the last walk.

If you are scheduled by default for up to 4 hours in a day:

  • You will see one 10 minute paid break scheduled into your day

If you are scheduled by default for up to 6 hours in a day:

  • You will see one 10 minute paid break and one 30 minute optional meal break scheduled into your day
    • If you work less than 6 hours, you can waive your meal period after signing the form below
  • If you are at the 5 hour mark in your day and have any walks longer than 45 minutes still scheduled, let Sniff and Go know so that a second 10 minute break can be scheduled in

If you are scheduled by default for up to 6+ hours in a day:

  • You will see two 10 minute paid breaks and one 30 minute meal break scheduled into your day
  • If you end up working less than 6 hours, you can waive your meal period after signing the form below and the second 10 minute break can be removed
    • Once they are done for the day, you are done for the day, if they less 6 hours
